I also have problems with the unnecessary additions in this game. Additionally, the scouter entries have been severely truncated and seem like "tl dr" versions of the ones in LOG II.
The NPC's don't have as much dialogue and what little they do say does not vary too much. This may seem trivial, but it's really quite annoying because a use ful feature's quick button was re-assigned to instead give access to a use less feature.Īside from gameplay, the world also does not feel as lively as it did in the previous game. Now we have to press "select" and then "R". In fact, the block button is an inconvenience because it used to be (in LOG II) the quick button for accessing the scouter. For example, I never used the block function or the energy shield even once. This reduced difficulty means that increased combat options are not utilized except to just mess around with for fun.
I'm not sure how to explain it, but it's really easy to just start attacking enemies and not give them any chance to counter-attack this was much more difficult to do in Legacy of Goku II. Additionally, the enemies in Buu's Fury seem to also have dumbed down attack patterns. For there to be a regression like this is very disappointing. The worst part about this is that Legacy of Goku II actually solved this problem in that game, the enemies bounced away from the wall to end up behind you if you tried to back them into a wall.
This makes combat waaaaaaaay too easy and makes the plethora of combat options seem rather unnecessary when all that's required is to mash the A button until the enemy dies. For some inexplicable reason, this game makes it possible to back enemies into a wall and just keep pounding them with melee attacks. The gameplay problems manifested in the combat. I realize this is more of a critique of the original source material, but I felt I should mention it because it is a part of the game.īut my biggest problem with this game was the decline in gameplay quality. For starters, the story didn't give me that "full circle" feeling I got from the last game and instead felt like a bunch of random plot events happening. Every idea seemed fully fleshed out and was enjoyable.Īlthough I had a lot of fun playing this game, I did actually find it quite disappointing. All in all, this is a game where all the improvements and additions from the last game felt warranted and added immense depth to the experience. I also liked how the world itself felt alive this was done through varying NPC dialogues and scouter database entries for nearly everyone. The combat system felt better (enemies actually being pushed back after an attack was a nice touch) and all the different characters felt unique.Īdditionally, the optional sidequests were both fun and rewarding (golden capsules and missing Namekians). Regarding gameplay, this one improved over the first game in every single way.
Storywise, I really liked how it began and ended with the Future Trunks story it felt like everything really came full circle at the end. This one was just amazing! The gameplay was tight, the story was engaging, and the difficulty was just right. I'm not sure if the GT game "Transformation" is considered a part of the Legacy of Goku series, although i can't really rank it since i never bothered playing it mainly due to it looking like a fairly crappy game. Overall a poor game that just seems like it was created to cash in on the show's popularity in the West. The side-quests were also boring as hell and like something you'd expect from a Christian children's show. Legacy of Goku - Well i think this game had some beautiful music, yet the gameplay was absolutely atrocious. It's a very close second, the main reason it isn't first being since it wasn't quite as long and in-depth as Buu's Fury, also i like the Buu arc better than the Cell arcģ. A dramatic improvement over the first LOG game. Legacy of Goku 2 - I remember spending hours playing this when i was a kid. The graphics also look stunning for a 2000s Gameboy Advance title.Ģ. The game is a lot easier than LOG 2, while also being longer and more in-depth. Buu's Fury - I know this doesn't have the "Legacy of Goku" moniker attached to it (which may be why it sort of flopped) but gameplay and graphics wise it was a natural continuation of Legacy of Goku 2.
